Born and raised in Vermont, Russell developed an early interest in violins and first studied with luthier Alan Goldblatt at age 11. Over a decade later, Russell studied with maker Joe Thrift at Surry Community College in North Carolina, and since that time has transitioned to making violins full time in his own shop in Massachusetts.
A fine example of the up-and-coming US luthierie scene, this 2020 violin displays quality craftsmanship, excellent tone, and unique aesthetics.
